You Won't Believe the Transformation Paint Had on this Newly Purchased Home Near Denver
This cute family of five moved from Idaho to Boulder Colorado just 35 minutes outside of Denver and immediately decided the first thing was to paint their home. They were hoping to find a new home that could fit their family’s needs.
When choosing a home the couple was deciding between spending towards the top of their budget for move-in ready home versus purchasing something a little smaller so that could use their budget for renovations. The home that they decided on was a little dated with honey maple woodwork, older flooring, and off-white and tan walls.
The house as is just didn’t feel like home, and with two kids doing homeschool the family had to make renovations that could accommodate their lifestyle needs. They just couldn’t live and work in a home that wasn’t comfortable and functional.
“With everything that they had going on we knew we had to be accommodating throughout this process and make sure the job got done thoroughly and without hassle,” said Tim Barry, Owner.
Project Scope
The scope of the project was to paint the entire interior of the home including walls, baseboards, doors, door jambs, hand railings, and cabinets. To help choose a color we painted several samples and the choose Useful Gray SW7050 for the walls and Benjamin Moore Pure White OC-64 for their woodwork and cabinets.
Project Cost
- Labor: $4,300
- Materials: $1,100
Total Project Investment: $5,400

Work in Progress
About two days into the project we found out that they were highly sensitive to the smell and concerned about the VOCs. We solved this issue in a few ways. First, we repurchased zero-VOC paint for the walls and a low-VOC Alkyd hybrid for the baseboards and handrailing. Second, we used plastic zip walls to contain dust from going into the areas they were living in and using fans to ventilate.
Third we took the painting of the cabinet doors offsite and painted the kitchen island and cabinet frames while the family was out of town.
After getting their kitchen counter extended a few inches they needed to repair the drywall and texture to match the existing wall.

“Tim and his team scraped our popcorn ceilings and painted them. He did a WONDERFUL job. He was so easy to work with, incredibly responsive to all of our questions, was on time (even finished a little early!) and the ceilings turned out wonderful. The house looks like a new house now – so much more modern, clean and fresh! I would definitely recommend Tim and his company to anyone looking for popcorn scraping!”
“Ripcord Painting is INCREDIBLE!!! Power washing, no crack unsealed, no hole unpatched, no protruding nail that wasn’t countersunk and filled, no rough surface un-sanded. I did not get anything close from the last well known painters we contracted at twice the price. All aspects must meet his high level of craftsmanship and homeowner’s satisfaction.”
